The Viola Workout @ Crested Butte, CO
The Viola Workout was created by Robert Becker, Principal Violist of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and Professor of Viola at Chapman and Azusa Pacific Universities in 2000 as an opportunity for students to spend time outside of their daily surroundings focusing on their skills, musicianship, and individual growth. Initially a program for the students of Chapman University, it has expanded from five attendees in its first year to include over thirty violists as well as numerous other instrumentalists on violin, cello, clarinet, voice, harp, and piano, and chamber music of all combinations.

Today, the Viola Workout includes personal and group instrumental lessons, master classes, outdoor activities, and workshops that enhance individual growth, examine personal performance issues, and increase musical performance skills. The staff includes professional musicians and teachers as well as a luthier, yoga instructor, published poet/writer, and a clinical psychologist.
